Status: Completed

Due to the increasing inability of many parents to afford the high cost of tuition and other essential educational needs for their children, the Higher Lajinah for Islamic Affairs strongly emphasizes the urgent necessity of establishing community-based educational facilities. These initiatives are intended to support underprivileged students by ensuring their continued access to quality education despite the financial hardships faced by their families.

The vision behind this effort extends beyond academics. By creating accessible learning centers within communities, the Higher Lajinah also aims to instill discipline, structure, and moral guidance in the lives of these children, especially during times when their parents are away from home, often in search of sustainable livelihoods or better opportunities to support their families. This absence leaves many children vulnerable to social vices, a lack of supervision, and emotional instability.

It is important to note that Liberia, being a post-conflict nation, is still grappling with the long-term impacts of war, including widespread unemployment and poverty. A significant number of parents, particularly in low-income communities, have little or no reliable source of income, making it extremely difficult for them to meet even the most basic needs of their households, let alone invest in their children’s education.

In response to these pressing challenges, the Higher Lajinah's commitment to establishing community-based educational facilities reflects a proactive step toward national rebuilding. It serves as a beacon of hope for marginalized families and a platform for shaping a more educated, disciplined, and self-reliant generation.

Summary

The Bandakor Community Islamic School Project was initiated to provide children in the community with access to an affordable and conducive learning environment, in response to the critical shortage of educational facilities necessary for their proper upbringing and development.
